Godolphin Cross Village

Oct, 02

Godolphin Cross Community Association (CIO) – (GCCA). Charity No. 1165789.

Welcome to the website hosted by the Godolphin Cross Community Association (CIO) – (GCCA). We became registered with the Charity Commission as a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) on 29th February 2016. The membership of the association is open to all those permanently  resident in the village of Godolphin Cross and surrounding hamlets. The area included is that marked by the red line on the map.

The aim of GCCA is to maintain and enhance the community spirit and well-being of the membership as a whole. To this end we will be seeking to work with other groups in the village to achieve shared objectives. We will organise social type events and also be proactive in pursuing issues which affect our village and its residents. Open Village meetings are held half-yearly providing a forum for residents to talk over issues affecting the village. Other meetings are called if needed.

We are currently addressing the issue of the well-being of everyone in a village where pedestrians have to share road space with vehicles. We are seeking the implementation of a 20mph zone (as has been adopted elsewhere locally) The proposal adopted by an open meeting went out for consultation with all residents. Having received overwhelming support a formal proposal has been submitted to Cornwall Council for a project to be raised.

February 2016 – Highways  have agreed to move the bus stop subject to sourcing funding. The complete package still remains on the table and will be pursued periodically.

The weekly youth club for those in the village aged 7 – 13 started during autumn 2014. This is based in the schoolroom of the former Methodist Chapel, run by members of the community. They meet 6 – 8pm every Tuesday.

The 2016 AGM was held in the schoolroom of the Old Chapel on 13th July.

We have now purchased the Old Chapel for a village hall and are currently fund raising to renovate the building to enable various groups in the community to use it more effectively.

We have taken over responsibility for the Christmas Lights as from 2016
